梟獸（上晈堯反鄭箋毛詩云梟惡鳴鳥也說文鳥頭在木上會意字也下正體獸字也）。

> 梟獸 ('ferocious beasts'): For the first character, the fanqie is \[j- + iao \>\] jiǎo and \[y- + ao \>\] yáo. Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Classic of Poetry says: 'The 梟 is an ill-omened crying bird.' The Shuowen says: 'A bird's head upon a tree; an associative compound character.' The second character is the standard form of the character 獸 ('beast').
