几上（飢履反考聲云几案屬也周禮有五几玉彫彤漆素是也諸侯朝覲祭祀皆用之矣說文几踞也象形字也經文從木作机是木名非經義借用）。

> 几上 ('upon the stool/table'; pronounced with the fanqie 飢 + 履. The Kaosheng says: "It belongs to the category of small tables (几案). The Zhouli has five kinds of stools: jade, carved, vermilion, lacquered, and plain; the feudal lords all used them in audiences and sacrifices." The Shuowen says: "A 'ji' (几) is for leaning upon; it is a pictographic character." The sūtra text writes it with \[the radical\] 木 as 机, which is the name of a tree and not the intended meaning of the sūtra, but a phonetic borrowing).
