> Repentance (懺悔): This is an abbreviated, corrupt form; the character 懺 did not exist in older writings. It should be kṣama (叉磨), which translates here as 'forbearance', meaning to pardon my transgressions. The semi-monthly kṣama increases the roots of morality. Poṣadha (逋沙他) translates here as 'increasing the precepts'. Pratideśayāmi (鉢羅帝提舍耶寐) translates here as 'I confess before \[others\]', meaning to declare one's sins face-to-face. The older name busa (布薩) is an abbreviated corruption; translating it as 'pure abode' (jingzhu) is a semantic translation.
