> Sundry utensils (什物): Shi and li fan. Shi refers to a counted collection; it also means an assembly, miscellaneous goods, or items for daily livelihood. Nowadays people refer to household properties and utensils as shiwu; wu means vessels. South of the Yangtze they are called shiwu; in this land they are called wuxing. The Records of the Grand Historian states: 'Shun made sundry utensils (shiqi) at Shouqiu'; the Book of Han states: 'Poor people were bestowed fields, residences, and sundry utensils'—this is precisely it.
