和上（菩薩內戒經作和闍皆于闐國等訛也應言郁波第耶夜此云近誦以弟子年小不離於師常逐常近受經而誦也又言鄔波柁耶此云親教舊譯云知有罪知無罪名為和上也鄔音於古反拕音徒我反）。

> 和上 (In the Bodhisattva-uttara-śīla-sūtra it is written 和闍 \[upajjhāya\], which are both corruptions from Khotan and other regions. It should be said as upādhyāya, translated here as 'close recitation', because when a disciple is young and does not leave his teacher, he always follows and stays close to receive the scriptures and recite them. It is also said as upādhyāya, translated here as 'personal instructor'. Old translations say: 'Knowing what is sinful and knowing what is sinless is called an upādhyāya.' 鄔 is pronounced \*yū-gǔ fan; 柁 is pronounced \*tú-wǒ fan).
