凋落（上丁遙反杜注左傳云凋傷也賈注國語云弊也說文半傷也從冫從周聲也冫音氷經文作彫錯用也下即各反說文云草木凋襄也從廾廾音草洛聲也經從兩點作落草書訛略也）。

> 凋落 ("to wither and fall": the upper character has the fanqie 丁遙 \[diāo\]. Du's commentary to the Zuozhuan says: "Diāo means damaged." Jia's commentary to the Guoyu says: "Exhausted." Shuowen says: "Half damaged." It is composed of 冫 with 周 as the phonetic; 冫 is pronounced 氷. In the scripture text it is written as 彫, which is an erroneous usage. The lower character has the fanqie 即各 \[luò\]. Shuowen says: "The withering and fading of plants and trees." It is composed of 廾—pronounced cǎo—with 洛 as the phonetic. In the scripture text it is written with two dots as 落, an abbreviated corruption of cursive script.)
