(The upper character has the fanqie 郡 \[jun\] + 雲 \[yun\]. The Fangyan says: 'Using a straight garment edge to encircle the waist is called a 帬 \[skirt\].' Guo Pu's commentary says: 'Popularly it is also called a wrap.' In the lower regions of the Jiangdong, it was the common term for lower garments. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'A 帬 is also a lower garment; it takes the cloth radical with 君 phonetic.' Note: for the characters 裳 \[lower garment\] and 裙 \[skirt\], the Shuowen jiezi's standard forms take the cloth radical, writing them as 常 and 帬; nowadays they are universally written with the clothing radical as 裳 and 裙, which is commonly accepted. 矜 has the fanqie 居 \[ju\] + 音 \[yin\]; that is, the border or hem of a garment. Guo Pu says: 'The upper garment worn by a woman when first married').
