> Fabricate and plot (構畫: the first is pronounced \[鈎 + 候\] \*gòu\*. The Kaosheng says: '構 means to frame and build.' The commentary on the Classic of Poetry says: '構 means to accomplish.' Zheng's notes on the Classic of Poetry say: 'To unite.' The Wenzi dianshuo has it with mù and gòu phonetic; the sound is the same as above. In the treatise text it is written with shǒu as 搆, which is an error. The second is pronounced \[撗 + 𦩕\] \*huà\*. Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: '畫 means to strategize.' It also says: 'To demarcate.' Guo's commentary on the Erya says: '畫 means to delineate.' The Shuowen says: 'To demarcate a boundary; it depicts the four borders of a field, hence it is what delineates boundaries').
