肝肺（上幹寒反說文肝水藏也下孚廢反白虎通曰肺之言貴也金之精也色白說文金藏也並從肉于市皆聲市音軰論作肺俗用字也）。

> Liver and lungs (肝肺): the first character is \[pronounced with the fanqie\] 幹 + 寒. The Shuowen says: 'The liver is the water organ.' The second character is 孚 + 廢. The Baihu tong says: 'The lungs (fèi) correspond to noble (guì); they are the quintessence of metal; their colour is white.' The Shuowen says: 'The metal organ. Both characters take the radical 肉 (flesh), and 干 and 市 are respectively phonetic. 市 has the fanqie 軰.' In the treatise it is written as 肺, which is a character used in common practice.
