> Collared scops owl (鉤鵅: the upper character has the sound gǔ + hóu; the lower has the fanqie jiā + é. The Erya says: 'The luò is the jīqī.' Guo Pu says: 'Now east of the Yangtze they call the collared scops owl (xiūliú) a gōuluò, pronounced gé.' The Guangya says: 'The xiūliú is a screech owl (chīxiāo); it is also an uncanny bird, blind by day and seeing by night. West of the Pass they call it the xùnhóu; east of the Mountains they call it the xùnhú.' In the treatise it is written with the graph 鴝, which has the same sound as 𮭠, with the fanqie jù + yú, which is the crested myna (qúyù) bird; 鴝 does not have this meaning).
