Shiben: 'Gonggu and Huodi made boats and ships.' Song Zhong says: 'They were ministers of the Yellow Emperor.' Fangyan: 'West of the Pass, a boat (舟) is called a 船.' Shiming: 'A ship (船) follows along (循), meaning it proceeds by following along the water.' The treatise writes it as 舡, fanqie: 呼江 \[qiāng\], which is not this meaning.
