> 𡊅壤 (the first character is the fanqie 分 + 問 \[fèn\]; the Kaosheng: "𡊅 means sweeping away." 掃 is the fanqie 蘇 + 早 \[sǎo\]; also written as 𡏰, with the same meaning. The sūtra uses the popular character 糞. The Shuowen: "𡊅 means sweeping away; from 土 \[earth\] with 弁 providing the sound." The second character is the fanqie 而 + 掌 \[rǎng\]; Kong says: "Earth without clods is called 壤." Zheng says: "壤 is soil; it is merely an alternative expression." The Guangya: "Crumbled dust; fertile and soft." The Shuowen: "Soft soil; from 土 \[earth\] with 襄 providing the sound").
