> 筌蹏 ("Fish trap and rabbit snare"): The first character is pronounced with the fanqie 七 + 宣 (quán). The Xici of the Book of Changes and the Zhuangzi both state: 'A fish trap is that by which one gets fish; once the fish is obtained, one forgets the trap.' Gu Yewang states: 'A quán is a bamboo fish trap (gǒu).' The Gujin zhengzi states that it takes the radical 竹 (bamboo) with 全 as the phonetic; 笱 is pronounced gǒu. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 第 + 奚 (tí). The Zhuangzi and the Book of Changes both state: 'A snare is that by which one catches hares; once the hare is obtained, one forgets the snare.' The Shuowen jiezi states that it takes the radical 足 (foot) with 虒 as the phonetic; 虒 is pronounced zhì. The catalogue text writes it with 帝 as 蹄, which is a vulgar and commonly accepted character.
