> 瞎鼈 (the upper character is he and jia in fanqie. The Blind Turtle Sūtra is the name of a sūtra. The Kaosheng says: "The eyes cannot see things." One source says: "Closed eyes." It is also written as 𣎅, a phono-semantic character. The lower character is bian and mie in fanqie. Zheng's commentary to the Kaogongji says: "The turtle is an aquatic shelled creature, hard-shelled on the outside and fleshy within." The Gujin zhengzi writes it with 虫 as 蟞; the sūtra text writes it with 魚 as 鱉, which is a vulgar character. The Shuowen states it is composed of 黽 with 敝 phonetic; 黽 is pronounced meng, and 敝 is identical in sound with the above.)
