帽簪（上毛報反字書正作\[曰/月\]鄭注尚書大傳云冐覆也文字典說云㡌冠也亦頭也從巾冐聲或從衣作帽音同上下戢森反蒼頡篇簪亦笄也笄音鷄說文正作無首笄也象形字亦從竹竹簪音義並同傳作簪俗字也）。

> Cap and hairpin (帽簪: the first character is máo + bào fanqie \[mào\]. Lexicons write it correctly as \[曰/月\]. Zheng's commentary on the Shangshu dazhuan says: "冐 means to cover." The Wenzidian shuo says: "㡌 means a cap, and also the head; it has the cloth radical, with 冐 as phonetic." It is also written with the clothing radical as 帽, with the same pronunciation. The second character is jí + sēn fanqie \[zān\]. The Cangjie pian says: "簪 is also a 笄 (hairpin)." 笄 is pronounced like 鷄 \[jī\]. The Shuowen has the orthodox form without a head: an ideogram; it also has the bamboo radical: 竹簪 has the same pronunciation and meaning. The transmission writes 簪, which is a vulgar character).
