- **Language:** Classical Chinese

𣏌梓（上音起木名也山海經東始之山有木狀如楊而赤理其汁如血無實名曰𣏌下茲死反南方木名也相梓漆堪作琴瑟說文並從木形聲字也）。

> 𣏌梓 'Willow and catalpa' (The first character is pronounced like 杞 \[\*kɨX\*\], the name of a tree. The Classic of Mountains and Seas states: 'On the Mountain of Dongshen there is a tree resembling a poplar with reddish grain, whose sap is like blood; it has no fruit and is named 𣏌.' The second character has the fanqie \[茲死, \*tsiX\*\], the name of a southern tree. When one appraises catalpa (梓) and lacquer trees, they are fit for making zithers (qin and se). The Shuowen notes both derive from \[the radical\] 'tree' and are phono-semantic characters).
