> 豚魚 ('Piglets and fishes'; the first character has the fanqie 突 + 論 \[tún\]; the second character is simply the character for "fish" \[yú\]. Wang Bi says: 'A piglet is the humblest of beasts.' The Fangyan says: 'The young of swine are called tun.' The Shuowen jiezi gives the standard graph as \[彖/(田\*又)\], meaning a small pig, pictographic from 彖, and holding meat (月) and plows to supply sacrificial offerings; writing it with "meat" (肉) as 豚 is the seal script character. The collected editions have it with 乇 as \[月\*(必-心+七)\]; the popular form is also written as 𤜨.)
