> Haoli 毫𣀗 (The upper character is pronounced fanqie 号高; the lower is 里之. The Zhouyi says: "An error by a hairbreadth (hao) or infinitesimal fraction (li) leads to a divergence of a thousand li." Ten hairs (hao) make one li 𣀗. The Wenzi dianshuo writes it as 毫, having the 'hair' radical and the phonetic component gao 高. The Shuowen says: "Li 𣀗 is stiff, curved hair that can be used for quilted clothing; it has the 'yak' radical abbreviated, with the phonetic component lai 來." In ancient script it is written as \[厂@(來-(企-止)+几)\], an abbreviation of 𣀗. Collected editions that write hao 毫 as a beast shaped like a piglet with white hair as large as hairpins with black tips, named hao 豪: li 釐 is an interchangeable character; mao 犛 is pronounced mao 茅).
