The Zhouli states: 'Crossing the Huai River to the north, they turn into trifoliate oranges; it is due to the climate of the earth.' The second character has the fanqie 余救 \[yú + jiù\]. The Zishu states: 'Resembling an orange but larger, with a thick peel.' The Guangzhi states: 'The pomelos of Chengdu are as large as peck measures.' Guo \[Pu's\] commentary on the Erya states: 'The pomelo resembles a bitter orange and is sour; it grows south of the Yangtze.'
