窗牖（上楚江反案說文作牕在牆曰牗在屋曰牕從片悤像交眼之形經中或作𬯗窓二形皆謬下由酒反說文穿壁以木交為牗從片戶甫聲悤音楚江反）。

> 窗牖 (for the first character, \[chuāng\], fanqie 楚江 \[tʃʰ- + -ɔŋ = tʃʰɔŋ/chuāng\]. It is noted that the Shuowen writes it as 牕: an opening in a wall is called a 牖; an opening in a roof is called a 牕. It takes 片 as radical, and 悤 depicts the shape of intersecting apertures. In the sūtra it is sometimes written 𬯗 or 窓; both forms are erroneous. For the second character, \[yǒu\], fanqie 由酒 \[j- + -ɨu = jɨu/yǒu\]. The Shuowen says: “Piercing a wall with crossed wood is a 牖. It takes 片 and 戶 as radicals, and 甫 as phonetic.” 悤 is pronounced 楚江 \[chuāng\].)
