泛漲（上芳梵反賈注國語云泛浮也毛詩傳云泛流皃說文從凡作汎下張亮反考聲云水增大砂岸崩摧入水曰漲從水張聲俗音上聲非也）。

> Flooding and rising (泛漲: the first character is pronounced \*fang\* + \*fan\* \[= \*fàn\*\]; Jia's commentary on the \*Guoyu\* says \*fan\* means to float; the commentary to the \*Mao Shi\* says \*fan\* is the appearance of flowing; the \*Shuowen jiezi\* writes it with the \*fan\* \[凡\] radical as 汎; the second character is pronounced \*zhang\* + \*liang\* \[= \*zhàng\*\]; the \*Kaosheng\* says when waters swell greatly and sand banks collapse into the water, it is called \*zhang\*; it has the water radical and the phonetic \*zhang\* \[張\]; reading it in the rising tone in vulgar practice is incorrect).
