均亭（上居勻反字書均平也下特丁反考聲亭亦平也今亭子取其四面亭均也均從土勻聲亭從高丁省聲經從金作鈞謂三十斤也亭從人作停謂𠐌也並非畫壇四角均亭字也）。

> Even and symmetrical (均亭: the upper character has the fanqie \*jū\* + \*yún\* \[jūn\]; character glossaries say, "\*Jūn\* means level and equal." The lower character has the fanqie \*tè\* + \*dīng\* \[tíng\]; the \*Kaosheng\* says, "\*Tíng\* also means level." Today's pavilions take their four sides as being evenly symmetrical (\*tíngjūn\*). \*Jūn\* is categorized under "earth" with \*yún\* phonetic; \*tíng\* is categorized under "high" with an abbreviated \*dīng\* phonetic. The sūtra writes it under "metal" as 鈞, which means thirty catties; and writes \*tíng\* under "person" as 停, meaning to stop; neither is the character for the four corners of a painted altar being evenly symmetrical).
