(The first character has the fanqie fu + fen; the Shuowen says: “Also anger.” It is composed of the mind radical (心) with fen as phonetic; it also has the fanqie fu + wen. The second character has the fanqie nai + gu; the Yupian says: “Resentment.” The Qieyun says: “Wrath and anger”; it is also pronounced nu. Examining it now: regarding the wrathful forms, the Vajraśekhara Yoga Sūtra states: “The various Buddhas and Bodhisattvas manifest different bodies based on two kinds of wheels: first, the Dharma Wheel, in which they manifest their true bodies, being the retribution bodies obtained through their practices and vows; second, the Wheel of Injunction, in which they manifest wrathful bodies, displaying fierce majesty out of great compassion.”)
