埿捏（上奴低反說文埿塗也言水土相雜也尼即聲也經文作泥水名也毛詩疏云泥本中衛之小邑非經用下奴結反切韻以手搦也又捺也從手涅省聲也）。

> Clay and kneading (埿捏: the upper character has the fanqie \*nú\* + \*dī\* \[ní\]; the \*Shuowen\* says, "\*Ní\* means mud," meaning water and earth mixed together; \*ní\* provides the sound. In the sūtra text it is written as 泥, which is the name of a river; the commentary on the \*Mao Shi\* says that Ni was originally a small town in the state of Wei, which is not what is meant in the sūtra. The lower character has the fanqie \*nú\* + \*jié\* \[niē\]; the \*Qieyun\* says, "To grasp with the hand"; also to press down; it is categorized under "hand" with an abbreviated \*niè\* phonetic).
