> \*Lokānātha\*: The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: 'Translated as World-Honoured One (世尊, Bhagavat).' The Tattvasiddhi-śāstra says: 'Possessing the nine epithets above, he is revered and honored by all beings; hence he is called World-Honoured One, because he is universally revered in heaven and the human world.' If the meanings of these ten epithets are summarized briefly: having no falsehood is called Thus-Come; being a good field of merit is called Worthy of Offerings; knowing the dharmadhātu is called Correct and Complete Knower; possessing the three knowledges is called Perfect in Knowledge and Conduct; not returning is called Well-Gone; knowing the lands of living beings is called Knower of the World; having no equal is called Unsurpassed Person; taming the minds of others is called Taming Hero; being the eye of living beings is called Teacher of Gods and Humans; knowing the three aggregates is called Buddha; possessing these ten virtues is called Honoured One of the World. The Nirvāṇa Commentary says: 'The Āgamas and the Tattvasiddhi-śāstra combine Unsurpassed Person and Taming Hero into a single epithet, so that the count of ten is reached only with World-Honoured One. The Nirvāṇa Sūtra and the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa open Unsurpassed Person and Taming Hero into two epithets.' However, the Fuxing says: 'The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa combines Unsurpassed Person and Taming Hero into one phrase.' This text is mistaken, as students should note.
