> 【One span】The Tongsu wen states: 'Zhang Shen says: "A zhe is a Zhou foot."' For humans it is one chi; for a Buddha, two chi. In the Tang, two fen were added to one Zhou cun, and two cun to one chi; it is eight cun of the Zhou chi. Jia Kui says: 'Eight cun is called a zhi.' When speaking of four fingers, four fingers are called a fu, and two fingers are called a cun; when speaking of one finger, a Buddha's finger is two cun wide.
