> \[Khostana\] The \*Xiyu ji\* says: “In the language of the Tang, it means Earth Milk. The king had no heir, and prayed before an image of Vaiśravaṇa; an infant burst forth from its forehead, but would not drink human milk. The ground before the deity suddenly swelled up in the shape of a breast. The divine child sucked and drank from it, and thus grew to adulthood. This is the refined term of their custom. In vernacular speech they call it the country of Huanna, the Xiongnu call it Yutun, the various Hu peoples call it Huoqie, and India calls it Qudan. Formerly called Yutian, which is erroneous.”
