> \[Ṛṣabha (勒沙婆)\] This is translated as "ascetic practice". Taking calculation as the sacred method, he composed a scripture in one hundred thousand verses, named \*Nirgrantha-putra\*. What these three ascetics expounded lacked the supernormal knowledge of the extinction of outflows, hence they possessed only the five supernormal knowledges. The \*Zongjing lu\* says: "Kapila posited that the effect exists within the cause; Sāṃkhya posited that the effect does not exist within the cause; Ṛṣabha posited that the effect both exists and does not exist within the cause."
