> \[Avaivartika\] Also called avinivartanīya. This translates as non-retrogression (avaivartika). Non-retrogression has three meanings: entering emptiness, one does not retrogress in stage; entering provisionality, one does not retrogress in practice; entering the Middle Way, one does not retrogress in mindfulness. Miaole says: "Prajñā is the stage, because it departs from the two deaths; liberation is practice, because all practices are complete; the dharmakāya is mindfulness, because it realizes the true realm." The Treatise on the Great Perfection of Wisdom states: "The patience of the non-arising of dharmas (anutpattikadharmakṣānti) is itself the stage of avaivartika."
