> \[Mo-he-yan\] (Mahāyāna): The Great Commentary states: "Mahā contains three meanings: great, many, and superior. Yāna means vehicle." The Śrīmālā\[devī-sūtra\] states: "The Mahāyāna produces all worldly and world-transcending wholesome dharmas of śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas. World-Honoured One, it is like the great Lake Anavatapta, from which issue the four great rivers." The Awakening of Faith states: "Regarding the Mahāyāna, broadly speaking there are two kinds: first, the dharma; second, the meaning. The so-called 'dharma' refers to the mind of sentient beings, and this mind integrates all worldly and world-transcending dharmas. Relying on this mind, the meaning of the Mahāyāna is revealed (and so forth)."
