> The Guangming Xuan states: 'The supreme principle is worthy of veneration; it is named the Dharma Jewel.' The treatise says: Prajñā is a single dharma, yet the Buddha taught various names, establishing different terms in accordance with conditions for the sake of all classes of sentient beings. Just as the substance of gold is one while the vessels fashioned from it differ—bracelets and armlets differing according to people's preferences, jars and basins differing according to temporal suitability—though temporarily divided into a thousand transformations, its single nature remains unchanged. Therefore it is said: Nirvāṇa is the true Dharma Jewel; sentient beings enter through diverse gates.
