> \[Kāmalā\] or kāmarā, here translated as 'jaundice', also as 'bad filth', and also as 'leprosy'. The Great Treatise (\*Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa\*) says: 'First are illnesses of external causes and conditions: cold, heat, hunger, thirst, weapons, blades, sticks, staffs, falls, and crushing—troubles of such various external perils. Second are illnesses of internal causes and conditions: irregularities in eating and drinking, inconsistency in sleeping and rising; the four hundred and four illnesses are called internal illnesses.'
