> The Founder of Wei's reply to Kong shows that a brilliant man opened his heart to honor the Dao; Xi Sheng's letter to Dao'an reveals that a fine ruler propagated the mind of faith in the Dharma. For this reason, these two letters are adopted, their purports preserving the two matters. Furthermore, Zhi Dun sent correspondence to a distant land recounting the monastic deeds south of the Yangtze; thus it is also included.
