> The upāsaka Zhu Nandi (which means “Joy”) was a native of the Western Regions. He aspired to the Way without weariness and could dwell at ease even after traveling afar. He understood the profound tenets and was fluent in the customs and speech of the Jin. In the first year of the Yuanxi reign of Emperor Gong of the Jin, the year jiwei, through the Song dynasty, he translated: the \*Upāyakauśalya Sūtra of the Mahāyāna\* (two fascicles); the \*Dhāraṇī Sūtra on Invoking Avalokiteśvara to Dissolve and Subdue Poisonous Evils\* (one fascicle); and the \*Sūtra on the Elder Weige Bowing to the Six Directions\* (one fascicle).
