從佛般泥洹下一十三經並出長阿含中。

> Dīrghāgama Sūtra, 22 fascicles, 2 cases. Translated by the tripiṭaka master Buddhayaśas from Jibin together with Zhu Fonian under the Later Qin. (Combining sole and duplicate translations.)
> The above sūtra has 4 sections, comprising 30 distinct sūtras in all. (Sengzhao's preface states: "The Dīrgha\[-āgama\] has 4 sections and 4 recitations, combining 30 sūtras into a single work.")
> Madhyamāgama Sūtra, 60 fascicles (or 58 fascicles, 6 cases). Translated by the tripiṭaka master Gautama Saṅghadeva from Jibin under the Eastern Jin. (Second translation; of the two translations, one is lost.)
> The above sūtra has 5 recitations, comprising 18 chapters and 222 distinct sūtras in all. (Sengzhao's Dīrgha\[-āgama\] preface states: "The Madhyama\[-āgama\] has 4 sections and 5 recitations.")
> Ekottarikāgama Sūtra, 51 fascicles (or 50 fascicles, or 42, or 33; 5 cases). Translated by the tripiṭaka master Gautama Saṅghadeva from Jibin under the Eastern Jin. (Second translation; of the two translations, one is lost.)
> The above sūtra has 50 chapters, comprising 472 distinct sūtras in all. (Sengzhao's Dīrgha\[-āgama\] preface states: "The Ekottara\[-āgama\] has 4 sections and 8 recitations.")
> Saṃyuktāgama Sūtra, 50 fascicles (5 cases). Translated by the tripiṭaka master Guṇabhadra from Tianzhu under the Song. (Combining sole and duplicate translations.)
> As this sūtra discourses on miscellaneous matters, it has no divisions into chapters, recitations, and the like. (Sengzhao's Dīrgha\[-āgama\] preface states: "The Saṃyukta\[-āgama\] has 4 sections and 10 recitations.")
> Alternative Translation of the Saṃyuktāgama Sūtra, 20 fascicles (2 cases). Anonymous translation. (Interlinear notes in the text contain the words 'Qin language'; although the translator's name is not definitively known, it was certainly translated in the Three Qin era, and is now appended to the Qin catalogue.)
> Although the order of this sūtra's text differs from the preceding sūtra, careful examination shows that it does not go beyond the preceding sūtra; this is merely an abridgment, and is therefore treated as a separate work. (The various sūtras from the Fo bannihuan jing downward are all separate sūtras from the four āgamas with different translations.)
> Fo bannihuan jing, 2 fascicles (or simply Nihuan jing). Translated by the śramaṇa Bai Fazu of Henai under the Western Jin.
> Daban niepan jing, 3 fascicles (or 2 fascicles). Translated by the śramaṇa Shi Faxian of Pingyang under the Eastern Jin. (Now attributed to Faxian as translation, as described in the General Catalogue.)
> Bannihuan jing, 2 fascicles (or without the character 'ban'). Newly designated as an anonymous translation, appended to the Eastern Jin catalogue.
> The above three sūtras are extracted from fascicles 2 through 4 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and are different translations of the same text as the Youxing jing in the first section. (Various catalogues all state that the Bannihuan jing was translated by Guṇabhadra of the Song dynasty, which is incorrect. Examining its phrasing, most of it represents an old translation, completely unlike the translations of Guṇabhadra. In the canons there is only the upper fascicle and no lower fascicle; having now lost its origin, it is catalogued under the Jin. Some sūtra copies have the upper fascicle of the Fo bannihuan jing completely identical in wording with the upper fascicle of the Bannihuan jing, which is an error in the manuscripts.)
> Ren ben yu sheng jing, 1 fascicle. Translated by the Parthian tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> The above is extracted from fascicle 10 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and is a different translation of the same text as the Da fangbian jing in the second section. (The inclusion of this Ren ben yu sheng jing among the Mahāyāna sūtras in various earlier catalogues was an error.)
> Shijialuoyue liu xiang bai jing, 1 fascicle (or Shijialuoyue liu hu li jing). Translated by the Parthian tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> The above is extracted from fascicle 11 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and is a different translation of the same text as the Shansheng jing in the second section. (Compared to the root sūtra, this is slightly abbreviated; this sūtra is also found in fascicle 33 of the Madhyamāgama.)
> Fanzhi aba jing, 1 fascicle (one \[catalogue\] adds the characters 'Fo kai jie'; also titled Aba mona jing). Translated by the Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian under the Wu.
> The above is extracted from fascicle 13 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and is a different translation of the same text as the Amozhou jing in the third section.
> Fanwang liushier jian jing, 1 fascicle (also titled Fan jing). Translated by the Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian under the Wu.
> The above is extracted from fascicle 14 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and is a different translation of the same text as the Fandong jing in the third section.
> Jizhi guo jing, 1 fascicle. Translated by the Western Regions śramaṇa Zhu Tanwulan under the Eastern Jin.
> The above is extracted from fascicle 17 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and is a different translation of the same text as the Shamen guo jing in the third section.
> The above 8 sūtras, 12 fascicles, share a single case.
> Qishi jing, 10 fascicles (1 case). Translated by the Indian tripiṭaka master Jñānagupta and others under the Sui. (Appears in the sūtra title; fifth translation.)
> Qishi yinben jing, 10 fascicles (to prevent confusion with the former version, it is separately titled Qishi yinben jing below the heading; 1 case). Translated by the Indian tripiṭaka master Dharmagupta under the Sui. (Found in the Neidian lu; sixth translation; gathered from omissions and catalogued here. I respectfully note: the Great Tang Neidian Lu and Jingmai's Jingtu both state that the tripiṭaka master Dharmagupta translated the Qishi jing in 10 fascicles during the Daye era at the Translation Hall of the Shanglin Garden in the Eastern Capital. Now, upon inspecting the various canons, there are two versions: although their general purport is the same, their wording is slightly different, and there are occasional discrepancies in chapter titles. The former sūtra begins by saying that the Bhagavān was in the city of Shepoti \[Śrāvastī\], whereas the latter sūtra says that the Bhagavān was in the city of Sheluopoxidi \[Śrāvastī\]. Judging from the Sanskrit, the latter sūtra is correct. I consider that Jñānagupta and Dharmagupta each translated a separate version. Moreover, the head title of the former sūtra states that the two masters Jñānagupta and Dharmagupta produced it together. Now the former is taken as Jñānagupta's translation, and the latter as Dharmagupta's re-translation. Since the texts of the two sūtras differ, both works are now preserved. Furthermore, the Yuansheng jing also has 'the Bhagavān was in the city of Sheluopoxidi'; hence we know it was likewise translated by Dharmagupta. For fear that the two versions might be confused, it is separately titled Qishi yinben below the heading.)
> Loutan jing, 6 fascicles (or Daloutan jing; or 5 fascicles; or 8 fascicles). Translated by the Western Jin śramaṇa Shi Fali together with Faju. (Second translation.)
> The above three sūtras are extracted from fascicles 18 through 22 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and are different translations of the same text as the Jishi jing in the fourth section.
> Chang ahan shibao fa jing, 2 fascicles (also titled Duo zeng dao zhang jing, or simply Shibao jing). Translated by the Parthian tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> The above is extracted from fascicle 9 of the Dīrghāgama Sūtra, and is a different translation of the same text as the Shishang jing in the second section. (There is slight variation in degree of detail.)
> Zhong benqi jing, 2 fascicles (or Taizi zhong benqi jing; the heading at the beginning of the sūtra states 'extracted from the Dīrghāgama'). Translated by the Western Regions śramaṇa Danguo together with Kang Mengxiang under the Later Han.
> The above 3 sūtras, 10 fascicles, share a single case. (The title of this Zhong benqi jing states 'extracted from the Dīrghāgama', but an examination of the grand text of the Dīrghāgama shows no such individual sūtra; perhaps the Sanskrit text was not fully translated. Since it says it was extracted therefrom, it is provisionally placed at the end. The Great Zhou Catalogue's statement that it is a different translation of the same text as the Guoqu xianzai yinguo jing, the Xiuxing benqi jing, and the Ruiying benqi jing is erroneous. Moreover, various catalogues all state that this Zhong benqi jing was translated in the Later Han, but in places where Sanskrit terms are translated in the text itself, it says 'the Jin language'; the reason for this is unclear.)
> The thirteen sūtras from the Fo bannihuan jing downward are all extracted from within the Dīrghāgama.

> Sūtra on the Dharma Gate of Extensive Meaning, one fascicle. Translated by Paramārtha, Tripiṭaka master from Tianzhu, under the Chen (third translation; of the three translations, one is lost).
> The above two sūtras are alternate translations of the same text (at the head of the Sūtra on the Dharma Gate of Extensive Meaning it notes: 'This is an independent translation of one chapter of the Madhyama Āgama.' Upon examining the complete text of the Madhyama Āgama now, it lacks this single sūtra; perhaps the Sanskrit was not completely translated. Since it says it comes from there, it is provisionally placed at the end. Its classification in the Great Zhou Catalogue of the Canon as a Mahāyāna sole translation is mistaken. Furthermore, the Sūtra on the Meaning of the Universal Dharma writes 'Sheliri' \[Śāriputra\], whereas the Sūtra on Practicing the Full Dharma writes 'Shelifu' \[Śāriputra\]; they differ only in this single character, and in other phrasing there is no difference whatsoever).

> one fascicle, the "Chapter on Strength" (this text is somewhat broader).
> \*Sūtra on the Wrestlers Moving the Mountain\*, one fascicle (also simply called \*Sūtra on Moving the Mountain\*),
> translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Dharmarakṣa under the Western Jin.
> \*Sūtra on the Four Unprecedented Dharmas\*, one fascicle (also called \*Sūtra on the Four Unprecedented\*, or without the word \*Dharma\*),
> translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Dharmarakṣa under the Western Jin.
> The above two sūtras are different translations from fascicle 36 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on the Eight Difficulties" (they were originally one sūtra, divided into two in this separate translation; the primary text is somewhat broader, and this excerpt is incomplete).
> \*Sūtra on Śāriputra and Mahāmaudgalyāyana Wandering the Four Crossways\*, one fascicle,
> translated by the Foreign Tripiṭaka Master Kang Mengxiang under the Later Han.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 41 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on the Horse King" (its compilation in the Zhou Catalogue among Mahāyāna retranslations was an error).
> \*Sūtra on the Family Names and Personal Names of the Seven Buddhas' Parents\*, one fascicle (also called \*Sūtra on the Seven Buddhas' Names and Surnames), anonymous translation of the Cao Wei.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 45 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on the Unwholesome."
> \*Sūtra on Herding Cattle\*, one fascicle (also called \*Cattle Herder Sūtra\*),
> translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Kumārajīva under the Yao Qin.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 46 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Herding Cattle" (this text is somewhat broader).
> \*Pratītyasamutpāda-sūtra\*, one fascicle (also called \*Sūtra on the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination\*),
> translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Xuanzang under the Great Tang (recorded in the \*Fanjing tu\*).
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 46 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Herding Cattle" (compared to the primary text, this version is somewhat abridged; the Zhou Catalogue's classification of it as a Mahāyāna single translation is mistaken).
> \*Sūtra on the Eleven Recollections of the Tathāgata\*, one fascicle (or called \*Eleven Contemplations\*),
> translated by the Indian Tripiṭaka Master Guṇabhadra under the Song (collected and included).
> The above is a different translation from the beginning of fascicle 48 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Paying Homage to the Three Jewels" (these eleven recollections run through two sūtras; the meaning of the first eleven items matches upon collation, while the latter eleven items could not be found upon searching).
> \*Sūtra on the Four Hells\*, one fascicle (or called \*Four Great Hells\*),
> translated by the Western Regions śramaṇa Zhu Fonian under the Eastern Jin (collected and included).
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 48 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Paying Homage to the Three Jewels" (the primary text is somewhat broader).
> \*Sūtra on Anāthapiṇḍada Converting His Seven Sons\*, one fascicle, translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 49 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Impermanence" (the primary text has only four sons; the rest of the meaning is largely identical).
> \*Sūtra on the Parinirvāṇa of Mahāprajāpatī\*, one fascicle,
> translated by the śramaṇa Bo Fazu of Henan under the Western Jin.
> \*Sūtra on the Buddha's Mother's Parinirvāṇa\*, one fascicle, translated by the Song śramaṇa Shi Huijian (collected and included).
> The above two sūtras are different translations of the same text, from fascicle 50 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Mahāprajāpatī's Parinirvāṇa."
> \*Sūtra on King Pasenadi's Ten Dreams\*, one fascicle,
> translated by the Western Regions śramaṇa Zhu Fonian under the Eastern Jin.
> \*Sūtra on the King of Śrāvastī Dreaming of Ten Matters\*, one fascicle, recorded in Sengyou's catalogue as Master Daoan's anonymous translation (now appended to the Western Jin catalogue; collected and included).
> The above two sūtras are different translations of the same text, from fascicle 51 of the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*, the "Chapter on Mahāprajāpatī's Parinirvāṇa."
> \*Sūtra on Ānanda's Fellow Students\*, one fascicle, translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> (The above \*Sūtra on Ānanda's Fellow Students\* states at the beginning of the text that it is extracted from the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*; upon checking the larger source text, this sūtra is not present; since it claims to be extracted from it, it is provisionally placed at the end).
> The twenty-four sūtras from the \*Sūtra on the Fragrance of Moral Virtue\* onward are all different translations of individual texts from the \*Ekottarika-āgama\*.
> \*Sūtra on the Five Aggregates Being Completely Empty\*, one fascicle, translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Yijing under the Great Tang (newly catalogued).
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 2 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\* (although this sūtra exists in fascicle 39 of the \*Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya-saṃyuktavastu\*, it is not an extracted text by analogy, and is thus retained rather than dismissed; this is a case of the Vinaya citing a sūtra, not a sūtra deriving from the Vinaya).
> \*Sūtra on the Seven Bases and Three Contemplations\*, one fascicle (or two fascicles),
> translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> The above is a different translation from the \*Saṃyuktāgama\* (from beginning to end this sūtra contains thirty discourses; the first is the Seven Bases and Three Contemplations, and the last is called Accumulation of Bones, being named after the opening section; the initial \*Sūtra on the Seven Bases and Three Contemplations\* comes from fascicle 2, while the later \*Sūtra on the Accumulation of Bones\* comes from fascicle 34; the others are scattered throughout various texts and not in sequential order in a single location).
> \*Sūtra on the Seal of the Noble Dharma\*, one fascicle (also simply called \*Sūtra on the Noble Seal\*, or called \*Sūtra on the Seal of Wisdom\*),
> translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Dharmarakṣa under the Western Jin.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 3 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\*.
> \*Saṃyuktāgama\*, one fascicle, anonymous translation (in the catalogs of the Wei and Wu).
> The above is a different translation from the \*Saṃyuktāgama\* (from beginning to end this text contains twenty-seven discourses; the first three are from fascicle 4, though not in order; the \*Sūtra on the Seven Bases and Three Contemplations\* stands at the end of the fascicle, its phrasing mostly identical with the previous text though somewhat broader here; the \*Sūtra on the Accumulation of Bones\* is also among them, though it is not yet clear why these two texts overlap; the others are scattered across the broader corpus; since ancient times all catalogues have listed it as an anonymous translation; upon reading the text, its phrasing and doctrine closely match the \*Seven Bases and Three Contemplations\*, appearing to be translated by An Shigao; as no definitive record has yet been found, it is provisionally kept as an anonymous translation following earlier catalogues).
> \*Sūtra on the Parable of the Five Aggregates\*, one fascicle (also named \*Sūtra on What Is Drifted by Water Foam\*, or called \*Sūtra on the Parable of the Five Skandhas\*),
> translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> \*Sūtra on What Is Drifted by Water Foam\*, one fascicle (also named \*Sūtra on the Great Foam Gathering in the River\*, or named \*Sūtra on the Parable of the Foam Gathering\*),
> translated by the Western Regions śramaṇa Zhu Fonian under the Eastern Jin (collected and included).
> The above two sūtras have the same original text, and are different translations from fascicle 10 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\*.
> \*Sūtra on Not Guarding One's Mind\*, one fascicle (or without the word \*Mind\*),
> translated by the Yuezhi Upāsaka Zhi Qian under the Wu.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 11 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\*.
> \*Pūrṇamaitrāyaṇīputra Sūtra\*, one fascicle, anonymous translation of the Jin period (now appended to the Eastern Jin catalogue; collected and included).
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 13 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\*.
> \*Dharmacakrapravartana-sūtra\*, one fascicle (or called \*Turning the Wheel of Dharma Sūtra\*),
> translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> \*Sūtra on the Three Turnings of the Dharma Wheel\*, one fascicle, translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Yijing under the Great Tang (newly catalogued).
> The above two sūtras are of the same original text, and are different translations from fascicle 15 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\* (although this \*Sūtra on the Three Turnings of the Dharma Wheel\* exists in fascicle 19 of the \*Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya-saṃyuktavastu\*, it is not treated as an extracted text, and is therefore retained rather than discarded; this is also a case of the Vinaya citing a sūtra, not a sūtra deriving from the Vinaya; the later portion of the \*Dharmacakrapravartana-sūtra\* matches the primary text, but its opening diverges, for reasons not yet clear).
> \*Sūtra on the Eightfold Noble Path\*, one fascicle, translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka Master An Shigao under the Later Han.
> The above is a different translation from fascicle 28 of the \*Saṃyuktāgama\*.
> \*Nandika Śākya Sūtra\*, one fascicle, translated by the śramaṇa Shi Faju under the Western Jin.

> The above is extracted from fascicle thirty of the Saṃyuktāgama; a variant translation (the main text has two sūtras; here they are combined into one, and its text is slightly more extensive; older catalogues placed it among the single translations, but it is now arranged here).
> \*Sūtra on the Horse Having Three Marks\*, one fascicle (also called \*Good Horse Having Three Marks\*),
> translated by the Western Regions Tripiṭaka master Zhi Yao under the Later Han.
> \*Sūtra on the Horse Having Eight Manners as a Metaphor for People\*, one fascicle (also simply called \*The Horse Having Eight Manners\*),
> translated by the Western Regions Tripiṭaka master Zhi Yao under the Later Han.
> The above two sūtras are both extracted from fascicle thirty-three of the Saṃyuktāgama; variant translations.
> \*Sūtra on Mutual Correspondence and Agreement\*, one fascicle, translated by the Western Jin śramaṇa Shi Faju (supplemented and included).
> The above is extracted from the aforementioned single-fascicle Saṃyuktāgama; a variant translation.
> \*Secret Essential Sūtra on Curing Meditation Sickness\*, one fascicle (also called \*Methods\*, lacking the word \*Sūtra\*, or in two fascicles),
> translated by the Song layperson Juqu Jingsheng.
> (The title at the beginning of the above single sūtra says: "Questions by the Venerable Śāriputra, extracted from the miscellaneous matters of the araṇya in the Saṃyuktāgama." Now examining the main text of the Saṃyuktāgama, there is no such text. Perhaps the Sanskrit text was not fully translated. Since it says it is extracted from there, it is provisionally placed at the end. However, examining the text and doctrinal meaning, it slightly overlaps with Mahāyāna sūtras. Older catalogues placed it in compilations and accounts, but this was feared to be deviant and improper).
> The above thirty-one sūtras, in thirty-one fascicles, share the same case.
> From the \*Sūtra on the Five Aggregates Being Empty\* downward, sixteen sūtras are all separate sūtras extracted from the Saṃyuktāgama; variant translations.
> \*Mātaṅgī Sūtra\*, one fascicle (also titled \*Sūtra on Ānanda Being Bewitched by the Sorcery Girl\*),
> translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation).
> \*Sūtra on the Mātaṅgī Girl Explaining the Six Things in the Body\*, one fascicle, anonymous translation (now appended to the Eastern Jin catalogue; fifth translation).
> \*Mātaṅgī Sūtra\*, three fascicles (or two fascicles), translated jointly by the Wu Indian śramaṇa Zhu Luyan and Zhi Qian (appears in Fashang's catalogue; third translation).
> \*Śārdūlakarṇa Sūtra\*, one fascicle (also titled \*Crown Prince's Sūtra on the Twenty-Eight Lunar Mansions\*, or titled \*Tiger-Ear Sūtra\*),
> translated by the Western Jin Tripiṭaka master Dharmarakṣa; fourth translation.
> The above four sūtras are different translations of the same text (the former two sūtras are merely a single chapter of the latter sūtra; of the five translations in all, one translation is lost).
> \*Sūtra on the Ghost Questioning Maudgalyāyana\*, one fascicle, translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation).
> \*Miscellaneous Piṭaka Sūtra\*, one fascicle (its text and meaning differ slightly from the preceding and succeeding sūtras),

> \*Sūtra on the Karmic Retribution of Hungry Ghosts\*, one fascicle (also titled \*Sūtra on Maudgalyāyana Explaining the Causes and Conditions of Hell and Hungry Ghosts\*), anonymous translation (now appended to the Eastern Jin catalogue; third translation).
> The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text (of the four translations in all, one translation is lost).
> \*Sūtra on Ānanda's Inquiries Regarding the Auspicious and Inauspicious in Serving the Buddha\*, one fascicle (or titled \*Sūtra on Ānanda's Inquiries Regarding Matters\*, also called \*Sūtra on the Auspicious and Inauspicious in Serving the Buddha\*),

> The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text (the \*Sūtra on Slighted Dharma\* is newly recognized as a re-translation; of the four translations in all, one translation is lost).
> \*Sūtra of the Five Mothers and One Son\*, one fascicle, translated by the Wu Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian (first translation).
> \*Śāmīra-sūtra\*, one fascicle; Sengyou's catalogue says: "Master Daoan's Variant Sūtra from Guanzhong, in the Three Qin Catalogue" (second translation).
> The above two sūtras are different translations of the same text (regarding the \*Śāmīra-sūtra\*, the Great Zhou Catalogue says it was translated by Dharmakṣema, taken from Changfang's catalogue; examining Fang's catalogue now, it is not therein, so the Zhou catalogue is mistaken).
> \*Yuye Sūtra\*, one fascicle (or called \*Yuye Girl Sūtra\*); Sengyou's catalogue says it is Master Daoan's anonymous translation (now appended to the Western Jin catalogue; first translation, supplemented and included).

> \*Sūtra on Past and Present Causes and Effects\*, four fascicles, translated by the Song Indian Tripiṭaka master Guṇabhadra (sixth translation).
> The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text (the former two sūtras are abridged and incomplete; of the six translations in all, three translations are lost).
> \*Ocean of Dharma Sūtra\*, one fascicle, translated by the Western Jin śramaṇa Shi Faju (supplemented and included; second translation).
> \*Sūtra on the Eight Virtues of the Ocean\*, one fascicle, translated by the Later Qin Tripiṭaka master Kumārajīva (appears in Fashang's catalogue; third translation, supplemented and included).
> The above two sūtras are different translations of the same text (of the three translations in all, one translation is lost).
> \*Sūtra of Forty-two Chapters\*, one fascicle, translated jointly by the Later Han Indian śramaṇas Kāśyapa Mātanga and Zhu Falan (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
> \*Sūtra on the Causes and Conditions of Āmrapālī and Jīvaka\*, one fascicle (sometimes without the words \*Causes and Conditions\*, or simply called \*Āmrapālī Sūtra\*),
> translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).

> \*Sūtra on the Elder Yinyue\*, one fascicle (or called \*Sūtra on the Elder Yinyue and Pūraṇa Kāśyapa\*),
> translated by the Wu Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
> The above nine sūtras, in thirteen fascicles, share the same case (the \*Sūtra on the Elder Yinyue\* was arranged within the Mahāyāna canon in the Zhou catalogue; now, examining its text and doctrine, it has been moved here).
> \*Secret Essential Sūtra on Meditation\*, three fascicles (or called \*Secret Essential Method of Meditation\*, or in four fascicles),
> translated by the Later Qin Tripiṭaka master Kumārajīva (second translation; of three translations, two are lost).
> (Regarding the above \*Secret Essential Sūtra on Meditation\*, in the various ancient catalogues it was always placed in compilations and accounts. Now examining this sūtra, its beginning, middle, and end portions are extremely distinct; the upper and lower texts mostly elucidate meditation contemplation, among which contemplation of the Buddha, contemplation of \[impurity\], etc., elucidate matters of repenting and eliminating grave sins. Since it slightly overlaps with the Mahāyāna and is not an authored work, it is accordingly placed here. Furthermore, in various catalogues there is another \*Secret Essential Sūtra on Meditation\* in five fascicles, said to have been translated by the Song Tripiṭaka master Dharmamitra; its text is extremely confused and unfit for circulation, as detailed in the \*Catalogue of Pruning the Superfluous\*).
