> "Furthermore, Subhūti, if a good man or good woman accepts, upholds, reads, and recites this sūtra, and is despised by others, this person's sinful karma from past lives would have caused them to fall into the evil destinies; because they are despised by people in the present lifetime, the sinful karma of past lives is eradicated, and they will attain anuttarā samyaksaṃbodhi. Subhūti, I recall that in the past, during immeasurable asaṃkhyeya kalpas before Dīpaṃkara Buddha, I met eighty-four thousand myriads of nayutas of buddhas, making offerings to them all and serving them without missing any. If, on the other hand, in the final, latter age someone can accept, uphold, read, and recite this sūtra, the merit they obtain, compared to the merit of my offerings to all those buddhas, would not be equaled by one hundredth part, nor a thousandth, myriadth, or koṭith part, down to what cannot be reached by calculation or metaphor. Subhūti, if a good man or good woman in the final, latter age accepts, upholds, reads, and recites this sūtra, and if I were to fully explain the merit they obtain, someone hearing it might become maddened, suspicious, and incredulous. Subhūti, you should know that the meaning of this sūtra is inconceivable, and its fruition is also inconceivable."
