> Sūtra: "Why is that?" up to "are called all Buddhas." Commentary: This is according with all Buddhas. Why are they able to leave behind views of self and phenomena? Because the person who retains the sūtra accords with all Buddhas. The Buddha is free from false marks; his wisdom is firm and real, capable of tallying with the profound and marvelous, and he therefore preached this sūtra. Hence that which the sūtra expresses is firm, real, profound, and marvelous; and those who receive and retain it act in accord with the Buddha, generating firm and marvelous wisdom capable of eliminating the two graspings. Therefore, to believe, understand, receive, and retain it in future ages is foremost and most rare. This corresponds to the "firm, real, understanding, profound, and marvelous" among the seven meanings in the verse.
