> Sūtra: The Buddha said: 'Excellent, excellent, Subhūti! It is just as you have said: the Tathāgata well protects and is mindful of the bodhisattvas, and well entrusts and charges the bodhisattvas.' / Below, this thirdly clarifies the Tathāgata's praise and permission. In this, there are three parts: first, praise and endorsement; second, command to listen; third, permission to speak. This text is the first. 'Excellent, excellent' is the utmost praise. The reason for praising twice is that Subhūti's praise and question both accord: first, they accord with the minds of those who are transformed; second, they accord with the virtues of the one who transforms. 'It is just as you have said' and so forth is the endorsement.
