The Buddha then prophesied: 'After their lives end, this mother cow and her calf will transmigrate back and forth seven times between the human and heavenly realms, and ultimately will never again be reborn in the three evil destinies. Later, the mother cow will encounter Maitreya Buddha and attain the fruit of an arhat; the calf will do the same. After twenty kalpas have passed, it will attain Buddhahood, named Tathāgata Milk Light.' Because of this event, Mayūri and the others gave rise to profound reverence and faith in the Buddha.
