> "He acquires a buddha-land according to which realm sentient beings ought to give rise to the roots of a bodhisattva through." From here down is the fourth, explaining the difference in giving rise to faculties. For instance, when fragrance performs the Buddha's work, the bodhisattva faculties arise at the nose; when sound performs the Buddha's work, the faculties arise at the ear. 'Giving rise to faculties' means the wholesome roots such as faith, which is precisely arousing the bodhimind. It is also said: some give rise to faculties by delighting in purity, while others give rise to faculties by loathing defilement, as before.
