Śāriputra, the bodhisattva is entirely equal toward all sentient beings; with a pure profound mind and relying on the Buddha's wisdom, he is able to see this Buddha-land as pure." This third part explains the reasons for the two visions: first clarifying Śāriputra, and next discerning the Brahmā King. The text below says: 'Although knowing that all Buddha-realms and sentient beings are empty, he always cultivates the pure land to instruct and transform the multitudes.' Śāriputra does not understand defilement and purity; following conditions, he does not rely on the Buddha's wisdom: delighting in purity and abhorring defilement, his mind has highs and lows, which is not true vision. The Mahāsattva understands that these defilements and purities are names of responsive manifestations; relying on the Buddha's wisdom, he knows that sentient beings are like illusions and thus entirely equal.
