- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.328](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2777.1.328)

> "'The Dharma is without sentient beings, because it is free from the defilement of sentient beings.'" Second, explaining the Dharma. This first clarifies the meaning of the true mark with respect to selflessness. \[Seng\]zhao said: "From here down, the meaning of the true Dharma is explained. Entertaining \[the notion of\] sentient beings defiles the true Dharma; if one awakens to the fact that the Dharma is without sentient beings, that defilement is naturally shed. Another explanation: this clarifies that the Dharma-nature fundamentally has no sentient beings, unlike the two vehicles' severing the mark of sentient beings. The three lines below are analogous."
