> He asked again: "What is the root of non-abiding?" He replied: "Non-abiding has no root." This exhausts ignorance as having no supporting root. Sengzhao says: "If one takes the movement of the mind as the root, then having characteristic signs principle culminates in the initial motion, having no further root. If one takes the non-existence of dharmas as the root, then existence is produced dependent on non-existence; non-existence is not dependent on non-existence, hence there is no further root."
