> Mañjuśrī asked again: "In the fears of saṃsāra, what should a bodhisattva rely upon?" These are the third \[series of\] six exchanges of question and answer. Originally, the accumulation of goodness could be increased; furthermore, because the bodhisattva practices emptiness to transform things and deliver people, this question is to make the vast vows firm. The text of the four vast vows is divided into four. These first two exchanges correspond to 'Sentient beings are boundless, I vow to deliver them.' Sengzhao says: "Saṃsāra is fearful, and of fears there is none greater. What does the mahāsattva of compassionate illness rely upon so that he is able to dwell forever in saṃsāra without considering it fearful?"
