- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.27](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2781.1.27)

> \[The sūtra says:\] "'its virtue is vast and deep.'" / The commentary says: This is the discipline concurrent with the path. "Vast and deep" describes the majestic abundance of their demeanor. Walking like a goose king, observing with majesty, adopting a stern countenance to subdue māras; sitting firmly like an immovable rock, beholding which makes one stand in awe of the Dharma. Therefore, seeing the likeness of a śramaṇa outside the gate, one deeply laments the enmity of the five desires; meeting the visitor Aśvajit within the city and hearing the stanza, one attains the first fruit. Such are the benefits of their demeanor.
