The intention of the promulgation is: In general, when lay people hold weddings or gatherings, sitting for a long time without leaving obstructs them and leads to mutual vexation and scolding; reasonably, this is inappropriate. Furthermore, leaving home is departing from defilement, whereas places that harbor passion must be guarded against and avoided; it easily corrupts one's own mind and conduct and incurs worldly ridicule and ugliness externally. For this reason it was promulgated.
