> Text for Receiving the Seven-Strip Robe: "Bhadanta, focus your mind! I, Bhikṣu So-and-so: this robe is an uttarāsaṅga of seven strips; I receive and maintain it as a cut robe of two long and one short \[units\]." (Spoken three times.) Text for Receiving the Five-Strip Robe: "Bhadanta, focus your mind! I, Bhikṣu So-and-so: this robe is an antarvāsas of five strips; I receive and maintain it as a cut robe of one long and one short \[unit\]." (Spoken three times.) Text for Relinquishing the Three Robes: "Bhadanta, focus your mind! I, Bhikṣu So-and-so: this saṃghāṭī is among my three robes, which I originally received and maintained. Now, for the sake of replacement, I relinquish it." (Spoken three times. For the other two robes, it is also like this; relinquish them accordingly.) If the three robes (are in a different place and will not be gathered in time for the night, one should relinquish them from afar facing one bhikṣu, performing the rite by saying:) "Bhadanta, focus your mind! I, Bhikṣu So-and-so: that saṃghāṭī is among my three robes, which I originally received and maintained. Now, because of not gathering \[them\] in time, I relinquish it." (Spoken three times. For the other two robes, relinquish them accordingly. If there is no bhikṣu, one should mentally resolve and verbally express it; accordingly, merely omit the initial phrase "Bhadanta, focus your mind!" All the rest is the same as above.)
