> As for "the seven \[doctrines\] of annihilation, etc.": when I am not yet dead, there is a coarse physical body composed of the four great elements, sustained and not yet destroyed; at that time there are diseases, ulcers, and arrows; if after my death it is completely annihilated without remainder, then my self is completely annihilated. Likewise, the gods of the desire realm, the gods of the form realm, the sphere of boundless space, the sphere of boundless consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception are all annihilated; therefore they are called the seven doctrines of annihilation. This is the aforementioned doctrine of annihilation after death.
