> Treatise: "If the cause ceases, \[then the condition ceases; because the cause ceases, the unconcorded mind ceases; because the condition ceases,\] the concordant mind ceases."
> Exposition: Next, reversing to reveal the meaning of ceasing. In this there are two parts: first, directly distinguishing it; later, resolving doubts. This is the first part. Ceasing has two meanings: first, general; later, distinct. As for general ceasing: when the antidote is attained and ignorance ceases, the objects of the manifesting consciousness produced by ignorance also cease accordingly; hence it is said, "if the cause ceases, then the condition ceases." Distinctly revealing ceasing: because the three fine consciousnesses directly arise depending on the cause of ignorance, when ignorance ceases, they also cease accordingly; hence it says, "because the cause ceases, the unconcorded mind ceases." The three coarse consciousnesses directly arise depending on the condition of objects; therefore, when objects cease, they also cease accordingly; hence it is said, "because the condition ceases, the concordant mind ceases." This explains the meaning of the two kinds of arising and ceasing in terms of the principle of beginning and end, arising and exhaustion, and not in terms of the moment-to-moment arising and ceasing.
