"If causes and conditions are fully present," and so forth, first reveals the complete perfuming: "possessing one's own force of perfuming" means that because delusion and karma are slight and weak, the causal perfuming is forceful; "also being protected by the compassionate vows of Buddhas and the like" means responding to the compassionate vow perfuming of external conditions. From "being able to give rise" onward, the benefit of perfuming is revealed: "giving rise to the mind of loathing suffering and cultivating wholesome roots" refers to practice of one's own allotment; "because of cultivating wholesome roots," and so forth, refers to practice of superior progress. Once one meets Buddhas and the like who indicate the good and bad, teaching the three vehicles and the six perfections to cause one to abandon evil and follow wholesome actions, they speak of future benefits to cause the practicing mind to gain benefit, and praise their practice to cause the mind to rejoice.
